More than the mud, wellies and flower crowns: Your V Festival survival guide

Whether you’re a festival first timer or have that flower crown practically cemented to your head, here’s everything you need to know so that you have the best time ever at this year’s hottest pop music event – V Festival.

    Get a game plan

Everyone wants to be front row to see their favourite act so, if you want to succeed you need a game plan. We suggest scanning the full line-up and making a mental note of who exactly you want to see and when they’re on. This year we’re all about making it down to the front for P!nk and Jason Derulo but you can plan who you’re going to rush to the front for on the coach ride down.

  • Prepare with V Fest’s Spotify playlist

If you’re anything like us you’re already super hyped about V Fest and no-one can blame us, because the set list is wicked! Which is exactly why we’re already listening to the official V Fest Spotify playlist. Full of summer dance anthems and top pop tunes, you’ll be counting down the days until you hop on the coach down to V Fest after just one listen, we promise!

  • Be hashtag happy

Question – would it even be a proper festival weekend without a whole camera roll full of snaps? Highly unlikely, and when you’re busy uploading that perfected squad selfie to every social media platform that exists #sorrynotsorry, make sure you jump on the official #Vfestival and #V2017 to make everyone #instajealous. Afterall, when you’re having the time of your life, the world surely needs to know what it’s missing out on, right?

  • See Jay Z’s first UK performance since 2013

Did you know this year’s V Fest marks Jay Z’s first UK show since the 2013 Magna Carter World Tour? This, of course, means it’s going to be big! And, with 4:44 just dropping, it’s pretty likely that you’re going to get to hear his side of the whole Beyonce Lemonade saga in the flesh. Not. To. Be. Missed!

  • Treat yo’self with the V Style Village

Whilst getting down with nature and sleeping in a tent for three days is part of the whole festival experience, we get that it’s not for everyone. So, if you just cannot bear the thought of being without your homely comforts (i.e. a snug duvet and hot morning shower), you can have the hotel treatment with V Style Camping.

As the decadent way to experience V Festival, you’ll have your choice of V Style accommodation, access to the V Style campsite and the festival’s VIP area. Inspired by P!nk’s song ‘Glitter in the Air’ and the audacious style of Jay Z – the theme is Glitter & Bling and you’ll be able to access whole other world of glam extras. These include a 24-hour reception and concierge service, a private walkway to the main arena, and even salon facilities (you know, for when you fancy a fresh trim mid-festival). Of course, we can’t forget the gorgeous Glitter Make-up Station, either.

  • Save your data

We’ve all been there. Getting that dreaded text saying you’ve used up all your data weeks before it’s due to renew (the literal definition of #firstworldproblems). Luckily, V Festival has taken care of that. This year Virgin Media have made the parks supercharged meaning there’s free Wi-Fi people! Yes, really!

  • Have a giggle courtesy of the Glee Club

Believe it or not, there’s more to V-Festival than its chart-topping music, 90’s style bumbags and endless amounts of glitter because you can, of course, swap all that singing and dancing for a belly laugh or two at the  Glee Club Comedy Tent. With a lineup of household names like Seann Walsh, Joel Dommett and Joe Lycett, as well as up and coming acts from the thriving comedy scene, there’ll be something to tickle everyone’s funny bone.

  • Take the coach

Sometimes there is nothing worse than being the driver, especially if you’ve been up since the crack of dawn, which is why we say take the coach! It will get you to V Fest for less, and drop you right outside the festival gates too. Ideal!
