Bah Hum-blog! Top non-Christmas activities to do this winter

Shake up the holiday season with these alternative ideas

Published: 11/12/2019

Bright lights, busy streets and a big dent in your wallet. It must be Christmas time again!

Now, we know some people countdown all year in anticipation for Christmas, but a few of us despise this time of year. Fear not, you niche folk who would do anything to escape the ‘holiday cheer’, as we have created a lovely list of things to do to that do not involve having to be ‘merry’, ‘festive’ or ‘holly jolly’ just for you.

Enjoy our list of top non-Christmas activities to do this winter – we won’t judge you for being a Grinch!

Take out some Christmas stress

Nothing says 'I'm not thinking about Christmas shopping anymore' like chucking an axe at a wall, and at Whistle Punks Urban Axe Throwing that's exactly what you can do!

Feel the adrenaline rush, learn to throw from seasoned professionals and be crowned the winner of your team, all in a fun, friendly atmosphere. Then celebrate with a few victory drinks and plenty of laughs (and no Mariah Carey).

Whistle Punks have locations in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol so book your coach tickets to one of these fantastic cities and schedule an axe-throwing session today. (Sorry though kids, over 18s only).

Become a cocktail connoisseur

Alcohol might not be the answer to our problems, but it will take the sting out of hearing I Wish it Could Be Christmas Every Day for the 6000th time. Plus, learning a new skill is always a good way to spend your time.

Cocktail classes are a fun way to explore some new flavours, catch up with friends and family and really impress at your next party. Many cocktail bars now offer classes and we're big fans of chains like The Alchemist, All Bar One and The Botanist.

Book your coach tickets today for a fun day out in a new city and find a talent you might never have known you had!

Get cultural instead of festive

London's Natural History Museum is an incredible place to visit year-round. But if the hustle and bustle of Christmas have gotten the best of you, it's also the ideal place to escape! The museum is quiet, peaceful and most of the festive critters in there have been dead for a few million years.

Don't miss the immensely popular Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. Highlighting the best of our planet, nature and animal behaviour, you'll find 100 lightbox displays to showcase these astonishing images in all their glory.

Book coach travel to London now and reserve your place to see the exhibit at the Natural History Museum website.

That's just the tip of the iceberg for things that will help you escape the smell of tinsel. But however you choose to spend your holidays, we hope you have a merry one!
