Cause baby you’re a firework: 5 places to spend 5th November

It only comes around once a year… no! Not that! We’re talking about the next most wonderful time of the year. Bonfire Night, of course! So, to celebrate, here’s 5 fantastic places to watch the firework festivities.

West Midlands


    See a roaring display at West Midlands Safari Park

    When: Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th November
    Where: West Midlands Safari Park

    If your little ones love fireworks just as much as they adore animals, then West Midlands’ Safari Park will send their Bonfire Night to dazzling new heights. At its Firework Festival Weekend, the park is combining fantastic fireworks and a bonfire with late-night rides, themed music and amazing animal displays. From visiting the Land of the Living Dinosaurs to watching a superb Sea Lion Show, it’s a Bonfire Night you certainly won’t forget!

    Hear it for the girls at Himley

    When: Saturday 4th November
    Where: Himley Hall, Dudley, West Midlands

    It’s recognised as the UK’s largest local authority fireworks display and this year, Dudley’s Himley Hall will be lighting up the night’s sky to the theme of… Girl Power! While we can’t confirm the set list quite just yet, we can guarantee that if it’s anything like last year, you’ll have a blast and a half. Plus, you can travel to Himley Hall for free with our special free bus services from 5.30pm onwards. Full details can be found on the Himley Hall website.

    Light it up in Liverpool

    When: Sunday 5th November
    Where: Liverpool Waterfronts

    It is the River of (the) Light! And this November, you can see the skies light up above the River Mersey in the second year of Liverpool’s fabulous fireworks festival. Spoiler alert – fireworks will be set off to the beat of music from loud speakers and, did you know? They actually came out of plane wings, last year! It’s going to be bigger and better than ever for 2017, so hop on board and we’ll get you there for the action.

    See (even more) bright lights in Blackpool

    When: Saturday 4th November
    Where: Pleasure Beach, Blackpool

    Thanks to the seaside city’s world-famous illuminations, you may already be used to bright lights in Blackpool. However, we can assure you that for Bonfire Night, Pleasure Beach is rocketing to a whole new level. With it’s late night riding and fireworks, you can ride the UK’s tallest rollercoaster and watch a musically themed fireworks display from 10pm. Yay!

    Let it shine in Leicester

    When: Saturday 4th November
    Where: Abbey Park, Leicester

    For those who jump a mile when the fireworks go bang, Leicester’s Abbey Park has the solution for you. The city’s official celebration invites visitors with the promise of a quieter show that’s easy on the ears, as well as live entertainment, a fun fair and a truckload of food stalls. So, whether you’re bringing your Nanny Dot or the bright-eyed baby, there’s fun for all to be had in Leicester!

    Enjoy traditional fun in Nottingham

    When: Sunday 5th November
    Where: Forest Recreation Ground, Nottingham

    Nothing beats a classic Bonfire Night and, you’ll be pleased to know, Nottingham has you well and truly covered. At the city’s Forest Recreation Ground, you can expect a magnificent free Bonfire and Fireworks display, as well as fairground rides for all ages. Please note, there is a charge for the rides.

    Turn up the heat and party at the palace

    When: Friday 3rd – Saturday 4th November
    Where: Alexandra Palace, London, N22 7AY

    No – not that palace! This year, the awe-inspiring Alexandra Palace is going all out for the capital’s hottest Bonfire Night. You and your mates can cut some shapes to an epic soundtrack from DJ Yoda (dance, you must!) as fireworks illuminate London’s captivating skies. Plus, you can even dance on tables at a German Bier Festival, show off your skills on an ice skating rink, and chow down on street food. Seriously – who wouldn’t want all of that?!

    Go up, up, and away!

    Where: Science Museum, London

    Kids not so keen on the fireworks? Don’t worry! Then you can still take them up, up and away with the Space Decent Virtual Reality Experience at London’s magnificent Science Museum. None other than astronaut, Tim Peake, will be their guide in a mission that puts the little ones in the pilot’s seat of a Soyuz capsule – the very one that bought him home!

    Have a night at the movies you won’t forget

    When: Saturday 4th November
    Where: Brockwell Park, London

    You know how outdoor cinema screenings are all the rage at the minute? Well, Lambeth Fireworks have ramped this up a level (or 10) with their unique fireworks display at Brockwell Park. With the theme, A Night at the Movies, you can enjoy an epic 20 minute display featuring quotes and soundtracks from a whole host of cult classic blockbuster movies. Note – you have to book your tickets before the event but hurry, they sell out fast!

    Rock up to the party at Roundhay Park

    When: Friday 3rd November
    Where: Roundhay Park

    Leeds knows how to get the party started and is putting the ‘fire’ in fireworks at Roundhay Park this November. You and your squad will be joined by a jaw-dropping 70,000 other people for the city’s biggest fireworks extravaganza. When the bonfire goes out, there’s only one place to warm up. The pub, of course! You’re just a short walk from the Roundhay Fox and North Bar’s Preston. Because it would be rude not to have a pint, right…?

    Go out of this world

    When: Saturday 28th October
    Where: Sledmere House, East Yorkshire

    Forget simply shooting up to the sky… get ready to go ‘Out of this World’ at Sledmere House’s ‘Musical Fireworks Spectacular.’ You can expect all things extra-terrestrial with alien-themed music and decor, as well as a Hog Roast and fairground rides thrown into the mix. If one thing’s for sure, it’s that Sledmere’s going to rocket (sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves) this Bonfire Night.
