When – Saturday, 3 November 2018 from 7:30pm

Where – Albert Square

Manchester kicks off its Christmas festivities early with a festive extravaganza in Albert Square, featuring stars from stage and screen such as Jonas Blue, Max George, the cast from Wicked, The Producers and Dr Doolittle. As well as playing some of his smash hits, such as “Rise”, Jonas Blue will push the prestigious button to turn on Manchester’s lights and begin a spectacular firework display too.

When – Tuesday, 6 November 2018 from 5:00pm

Where – Oxford Street

London will be hosting a number of Christmas light switch on events throughout the festive season, however, we have picked Oxford Street as one of our highlights. A regular favourite with the locals, Oxford Street’s Christmas lights are not to be missed and the entertainment is amazing too!

There’ll be plenty of in-store music. Yes, that’s right, shopping and a gig. What more can you want? Capital Xtra will be hosting this diverse series of gigs, featuring urban stars such as Novelist, Kara Marni and Ray BLK. Look out for a number of Christmas gifts, prizes and giveaways throughout the evening too!

When – Thursday, 8 November 2018 from 6:45pm

Where – Victoria Gardens

The Christmas season kicks off in Leeds on 8 November, where thousands of spectators will flock to Victoria Gardens for a night of festive cheer. Meet the main man himself, Father Christmas, whilst enjoying some merry live music and entertainment. The famous face pressing the all-important switch has yet to be announced for this year, however, last year’s event was concluded by Leeds Rhinos legends Danny McGuire and Rob Burrow. Nothing more festive than rugby!


When – Sunday, 18 November 2018

Where – George Street

Possibly the biggest Christmas light event in the UK is Edinburgh’s Light Night. This firework and illuminations extravaganza takes place on the city’s famous George Street. The huge igloo will be back as well as the Christmas tree on the mound, a gift from Hordaland County Council all the way in Norway! Talk about branching out! In addition to this, Edinburgh native and The Voice contestant, Saskia Eng will be switching on the city lights in front of the 20,000 revellers.

When – Friday, 9 November 2018

Where – Cabot Circus

Bristol is adding a carnival twist to their Christmas light switch on at Cabot Circus shopping centre. Teaming up with the Heart breakfast team, you can expect a host of Christmas and feel-good tunes to get the party started. You’re also invited for a sneak preview of the Christmas Grotto to meet the man in charge, Santa and get in his good books early this year.
